Professional Development Hours

Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District follows a 21-hour PD model in which all certificated staff can earn 21-hours of professional development a year, outside of their contractual school hours, in order to buy-back 3 days at the end of the school year. Below is a breakdown of how many hours can be accumulated in each category, as well as how many hours each staff member is required to earn.

 

Professional Development Hours Breakdown


  • In-district Hours (including workshops, Schoology modules, PLC, Classroom Observations, etc) –> unlimited
    • A minimum of 10 hours of professional development must be completed in-district.
    • PLC Hours (can be in multiple PLCs):
      • PLC of 2 people –> 7 hours
      • PLC of 3 or more people –> 10 hours
      • No more than 25% of a PLC can be done individually or online.
    • Wellness Hours –> 2 hours
    • SGO Hours (1st and 2nd-year staff only) –> 4 hours
    • Quarterly Assessment Hours (1st and 2nd-year staff only) –> 4 hours

 

  • Out-of-district Hours (conferences, online training/courses, workshops) –> 11 hours
    • Webinars (count toward out-of-district) –> 5 hours

 

District Hours for Supplemental and Part-time Staff


  • Supplemental Staff (participate on a pro-rated basis)
    • Full-time –> 12.5 hours
    • Part-time:
      • .75 –> 9.5 hours
      • .50 –> 6 hours
      • .25 –> 3 hours

 

  • Part-time Teachers (participate on a pro-rated basis)
    • .9 –> 19 hours
    • .8 –> 17 hours
    • .7 –> 14.5 hours
    • .6 –> 12.5 hours
    • .5 –> 10.5 hours
    • .4 –> 8.5 hours 
    • .3 –> 6.5 hours
    • .2 –> 4 hours
    • .1 –> 2 hours
